What a busy weekend. Nick had hockey, cleaning, groc shopping. Friday Nick had another game for the competitive tryouts before the game I asked him if he was nervous and he said no but when we got home he was pacing the floor and kept saying what if I didn't make it the team I played good didn't I play good? The Wednesday game Nick saved 26 shots and 1 goal, and Friday he saved 18 saves and let in 2 goals. His defence played better the friday game. He played really good. He got a phone call about 9:30pm saying he made the team he was jumping for joy. Saturday morning we had to go to the rink at 11:00am because Paul signed up for head coach so we were not sure what was going on, Nick was happy to be on the ice. So Paul and Aaron took charge of the kids, it was a good practice then we came home for about 45 minutes and headed back to the rink for the competitive practice. Nick was happy to see that his friends made the team too.
Paul is almost finished the counter he will be so happy when it is done. They wanted a dark stain but didn't pick on so when Paul got it all stained the boss was not impressed that it was so light, Paul told him you picked a light stain so that is what you get. He is gluing on the top now.
Last week our phones didn't work so Friday we got new ones and let them charge for there 15-20 hours I was so excited to plug them in but was quickly disappointed when we plugged them in the they made the same noises. We tried all the outlets in the house and nothing changed so it is not the phones but the phone lines coming into the house. But when I was reading the book that came with the phones they said it could be because of the DSL connection too.
Friday this is what Dexter was doing. Last Friday there was no school so the kids had friends over. This is Dex friend Mike.
And this is what the rest of the kids were doing. Playing baseball. Brody, Daemon, Dana and Nick.

Friday YIPPEE
It is Friday YIPPEE. This week has been crazy with hockey, meetings, phone not working, volunteer work and life. Nicks game on Wednesday went awesome, he did a super job only let in one goal and saved 26 shots. He had tons of fun, Dana and Dexter even came to watch. He has another game tonight then the team will be picked so if he gets a paper he will be on the team.
For the last almost 4 days our phones have not been working, they have had static when you hit talk and they won't ring. So this morning Paul went to Crappy Tire and got one that was on sale plugged it in it has to charge for 15 hours. So when I was making lunch the phone rings, I thought that the new phone was turned on but it was the old one. That is the way it goes don't work for 4 days then we get a new phone and it decides to work again.
This is Dana's school picture for this year. I asked her how come she didn't take her sweater off? She just shrugged her shoulders so we picked the first one.
The other day the bell rang (at the back door for when the dogs need or want to go outside) and I said who rang the bell? Paul said it was Gabby I said Gabby can reach it? Well she can but she sure has to stretch it is so cute.
Here is another poster.

Button battery dangers, odds and ends
Yesterday when I was going through a couple blogs that I like there was this story about a boy named Emmett who had swallowed a button battery. He is not quiet two years old and has to have surgery's and x-rays and 4 inches of his esophagus removed. I tried to put it on my face book to help spread the word (and I have lots of little people in my family) but for some reason either I or face book was having problems. Poor little guy.
This morning Paul was supposed to be to work earlier so I set the alarm but it did not go off so as he is getting dressed he goes to use the phone but there was nothing so I run down stairs to get that one and it was just static. So none of our phones work, I knew the phones were dying but figured they would be OK for a while. Thank heavens for a cell phone, so I had to write a note for both Dana and Nick's teachers to call my cell phone in case something happens while they are at school. So after the kids left for school and I got the plants in water I checked out the fliers for sales on phones.
Nick has his first hockey game tonight for the competitive tryouts, the white jerseys against the black jerseys. Should be a good game (I hope).
I had made something a while back and had to cut off a couple of inches off the bottom of the paper and I saved the strips of paper thinking that I would use these someday, well I made them into a book.
Over the weekend my Grandparents celebrated their wedding anniversary (60 years together) and their birthdays. I had wanted to make them a little something because I could not be there.
Just before General Conference my friend Alyss and I were talking about what we would do to help our kids listen to the talks and learn something and I told her I would make up conference bingo with pictures and then they would have treats and if they heard a word they would put a treat on the bingo paper. Then a few days before conference Alyss stopped by and gave me this cute little General Conference kit that she had made. On the bottle of water was this quote "With joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation" Isiah 12:3. On the paper pad President Uchtodorf said if you have any questions in your life that you should think of them, write them down, and pray about them. Then listen carefully during General Conference for the Lord to answer your questions. And the goodies tin Strengthen the body and ..... enliven the soul D&C 59:19. Such a cute idea most of the time I am more worried about my kids listening then remembering something for myself to write notes or ideas that come when I am listening.
Have a great day today everyone. I am going to go work on my Christmas gifts and feel sad that I can not post them till after Christmas I LOVE how they are coming together and want so much to share but then they will not be a surprise.

Happy Thanksgiving
We had a great Thanksgiving the weather was super and we had yummy food to eat, with leftovers for the next day or to which I love.
I was able to get my mini books finished for my online class that I was doing. I made 4 mini books using cardboard, cinch tool and paper. I think I am obsessed with making these books they are so much fun to do. They are 4.5x6 inches. Now I just get to add my photo's.

Nicholas has been asked to join the competitive team this year. Every year I hope that the drama from the year before will be over and a new and better year will happen. The drama never stops I guess. So I do not know what is in store for us this year. Nick has two games this week one on Wednesday and Friday then the team will be announced then practice starts on Saturday. Nick is very excited to be going competitive, he has the determination and the drive to be the best he can be. I guess that it is meant to be, Paul and I have had three different coaches ask for Nick to be on their team as their goalie, the other goalie is not easy to work with I guess, he is good but has a very bad attitude. Oh the joys of sports and kids. Here is Nick breaking in his mouth guard.
Friday was so nice the kids were outside hanging out. Here is Dana, Ian, Brody and Nick listening to music on Dana's net book (from school). They had been playing hockey and jumping on the tramp and they were taking a little break.
Saturday Nick and Brody had Matthew and Ethan come over to play a game of hockey. They would take turns being the goalie and then of course have play fights. They were fun to watch I am glad that the driveway is long enough for them to play on.
Sunday is when we had our thanksgiving dinner. We had turkey, potatoes, salad, dressing and sweet potatoes, which everybody loves. Paul and I peeled and cleaned the potatoes and when the sweet potatoes were boiled Dex and Dana put the marg, brown sugar and put the marshmallows on the top. YUMMY. Sadly this is the only picture I took of our dinner and eating. I was a bit worried about if the turkey would taste good but it was really good most of the spice was on the outside but it was moist and had lots of flavor. I picked this up when Mulder's had their meat sale.

Nice days
Last week it was kind of cool but Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday were so nice out. I was able to hang my clothes on the line, the boys mowed the lawn probably for the last time this year. Next thing will be the leaves to rake.
Last week when it was so cold poor Gabby was shivering so I found Harts old sweater and put it on her. It was a bit big but when her and Sasha got playing off came the sweater.

Thursday night Matthew and his little brother Ethan and Nick were playing hockey outside. It is so nice to have the full driveway for the kids to play on.
Paul took the camera cord to work so I will have to wait till tomorrow to down load the other pictures I took over the weekend. I hope every one had a good thanksgiving weekend.

Cookies, muffins and mini books
Yesterday was a fun day. Nick was home sick (?) he didn't move from the sofa and didn't eat much till after lunch then I could not fill him up. Every 30 min or so he was saying he was hungry. For lunch he had a sandwich and some yogurt, then later he had a banana, more yogurt, two pieces of bread with crunchy peanut butter and nutella, and some cookies that I had made and after that he said he was still hungry. He was still the same size this morning he didn't grow any thank goodness, his hockey gear has to last him a couple of years. We played checkers, read some books, he had a nap and read out of our french book we have at home.
I have signed up for Big Picture scrap booking that Stacey Julian started, it is on the computer, some of the classes are self paced and others have a time limit. The mini book I did "words to live by" book had a time limit. There are a whole bunch of classes you can take some are free and some cost money, I am all about doing the free ones. I am doing a class right now called mini memories and have to have 4 mini books that are either sized 4x4 or 4x6. I decided that instead of going to spend money on more albums I would just make my own. I have tons of cardboard and a cinch tool so it would be easy.
I needed 4 different colors so I went through my paper and found 4 sheets that matched. The books are titled, all about us, places we love, people we love, things we love. Yesterday I got my papers picked out, the cardboard cut and glued and while I was watching TV I sanded down the edges.
This morning I used my Cinch and punched all the holes in the paper, backs and fronts of the mini books. Now I need to make the title pages then upload my photo's to the web site. Then go through my photo's and add them into the books. It is a fun little project. It will be fun to look through them when I have them completed.
Here is another fun sign I got off of face book. I am all finished making my muffins so this afternoon I can work on my little books.

Hockey, Costco
Well Hockey is up and going again. For the past couple of weeks all the kids have been on the ice for skills and drills. Because only two goalies have signed up Nick was asked to come to all the practices. So Saturdays are double practices for him. He loves it and has a good time.
Dana even came to watch Nick for the first practice.
Before we left for Hockey we had some lunch and Dana wanted to eat this all by herself. She is so funny.
Friday Paul got home at 1:00pm and was done for the day so I went into town with Dex and Heike (Ben's Mom). Heike was looking for shoes for work and I really didn't have anything to get it was just fun to get out of the house. Dex had some stuff he was looking for. We got home and made pizza for supper and Nick's friend Daemon stayed over. Daemon played hockey with Nick last year and they go to the same school. Daemon's Dad was Nick's goalie coach from last year (and I am hoping will be his coach this year also)
Saturday I mentioned to Danielle (Daemon's Mom) that after hockey Paul and I were going to go into town and go to Costco, she said well I am going to go to Costco come in with me. So I asked Paul (Nick was still on the ice for another practice) and he said sure go in with Danielle she has already been and knows what is a good deal. So Danielle and her friend Michelle and I went in to Costco. It has been over 5 years since I have been in a Costco. Wow it was fun to see all the stuff. It was really good to go in with Danielle and Michelle because they have been before and knew what was a good deal and what was not. We went in about 3:00 and left at 6:00. I got some stuff for the kids lunches which I was really excited about and when I made their lunches yesterday they all came home and said they all liked the new snacks. Bonus. (the real bonus was that I spent less than $250)
Nick has been doing really good in school and the other day I asked him to read me some stuff in french that he had brought home. He read it all and it sounded really good. He has settled right in and is working hard. I am so proud of him and hope it continues all year long. He also got his reward for working hard and no detentions. Way to go Nick. Awesome job for the month of September.
I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that Dana does not qualify for the french exemption. I was very disappointed and called the district office to talk to the person that decided Dana's fate. He listened to my concerns and was supportive but would not change his mind. He said that the teachers say she is doing fine in french. He said he would be happy to come to a meeting at the end of the year to discuss the next year. I said what about when she gets to high school and has to take french to pass then what? He said the teacher's will have to work with her so she does succeed. I said what if they don't? He said they will it is there job to see that students pass. Time will tell I guess. Hope for the best, sometimes she does surprise me like her test on integers. I tried to help her study and she said she didn't get it but when she brought her test home she got 14/15. She does work hard, which is good.
Paul took the camera and got some new pictures of the counter. Wow it is looking really good he is almost finished it. What a big job, only a few things left and he is finished. Awesome job Hubby.
I started a new project and will have photo's of that tomorrow, I love how I can save money by making my own books. Super exited about that.
Today is a rainy day so I am making cookies, tomorrow is also supposed to be rainy so I will make muffins tomorrow.
I saw this two signs/posters and liked their message.
